Hi all,
some announcements here, especially for those who were not around yesterday.
1) Attendance for November
We only have 5 practices this November, and the attendance rate is terrible. The teachers are looking into this, and the SLs will be calling you all one by one for your reason behind your absence. If you do not have a MC, it'll be marked as 'O' on the list. The teachers will be sending out an official note to inform you that you are out of the CCA if you have 2 '0's or more. We have already taken note of those involved in the HAT, OCIP, GP trip programme etc. Tuition or external classes are not valid reasons, so please re-schedule them next year to avoid any clashes. Your commitment to CCA impacts on the chances of participating in competition and performances and ultimately, your CCA record.
On the other hand, for those people who want to quit (switching CCA, leaving the school etc), please inform me by this week.
NB : There may be a shuffle in section allocation due to the reduction in numbers.
2) Resume of Practice
The next practice will be on the 8th of January 2010, 9am to 1230pm. Attendance is compulsory.
3) Relay System
There will be amendments to the relay system. The new relay system will be up by next week. SLs and Exco, please take note of the changes.
4) Self-Practice/Online Help
Some preparation work to do before 2010 starts. Please work on Quien Sera, Que Sera, Sera and Always with Me. Look at Love Story and Tong Hua too, we may consider playing them for CCA Orientation. If you’re fine with your projection, notes, rhythm, dynamics and articulation, then put some feelings into your playing, imagine how people sing those songs, and you play it like how you want to portray your feelings/mesmerise the audience with your music. If everyone plays a part in spending some time during this long break to do some self-practice, I am sure this would compensate the time loss that we have suffered after promos and we would be a step closer to our goal.
Warm Ups

Quien Sera
Get yourself familiar with the piece, play it with confidence, projection and clarity. Play it with the mambo feel. Guitar 1, if you need help in the octave higher part, please refer to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Lmk8sTDzDA
For the other sections, you can view this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x1WateFNGo played by the 2007 seniors.
Que Sera, Sera
Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKTBnRZoq38 and note the rhythm and how legato and cantabile it is.

The whole of Page 1 is pizzicato (search online if you don’t know how to do it) for Guitar 1, 2 and 4. This song is mainly in the 5th position. Guitar 1, from part D onwards, you have to tremolo and Guitar 3 and 4, your tremolo part starts from Bar 65. Guitar 2, you do NOT need to play as written from Section F till Bar 73, instead you will play the Guitar 1 part.
Tango Potpourri
Section Leaders, please try this piece on your own. Lots of 10th position.
With that, thanks for reading and enjoy the holidays!
ANGELYN (:
