Q: Do I need prior music background to join TPJCGE? Are there training classes?
A: You do not need prior music background. Yes, there will be training classes on the basics before you join the performing team.
Q: When and how often will practice be held?
A: Practice days are on Wednesdays and Fridays, and will end by 6pm.
Q: What kind of music does the GE play?
A: The ensemble plays music ranging from baroque, contemporary, jazz/blues, to spanish, tango etc. Apart from ensemble playing, members are encouraged to form their own small groups/band and have fun jamming.
Q: Will I need to purchase my own guitar?
A: You are strongly encouraged to purchase one for your self-practice purposes. However, if you are under FAS, arrangements could be made for you to own a guitar.
Q: I have prior guitar ensemble experience. Is there an audition to enter the main ensemble?
A: Yes, there will be an audition to enter the main ensemble.
Q: Will TPJCGE be participating in SYF next year? Will there be extra practices for SYF?
A: Yes, we will. Practices are always held on Wednesdays and Fridays only, extra practices are hardly called for unless deemed necessary.
